On behalf of OGN Group and myself, thank you for joining us tonight.

People often wonder why a business in the North East business supports Members of Parliament both in and outside the region in which it operates. Right now we only have two MPs in the North East but we are willing to support many more. Our party has a great number of wonderful candidates whose involvement in Parliament would make our political life even more meaningful, our policies even more consistent, and our party even more influential and powerful.

Today the service sector dominates the UK economy, contributing around 78% of GDP. The financial services industry is particularly important. But it is also extremely fragile. It is the first to falter in a crisis. We are more addicted to the service sector than Russia is to oil. As an industrialist, I believe in Britain’s future as a high-technology industrial leader. I believe in a balanced economy, with industrial revenues generating a much greater percentage of GDP than they do at present.

It is my hope and dream that, with the right support, Members of Parliament will continue to work towards restoring British industry to its former greatness; that we can proudly return to contention in the global race under the ‘Made in Britain’ and ‘Buy in Britain’ banners; that British industry can balance out the excessive influence of the service sector in our economy; and that heavy industry will be the locomotive that pulls small and medium-sized businesses across the country towards success as part of our long-term economic plan. Finally, it is our party’s ticket to securing our position in the northern regions of the UK.

I hope our support to MPs and candidates will create a strong industrial group to advance the cause of British industry – people who believe, as I do, that it is in the growth and strength of industry that our future prosperity lies.
